PLEASE NOTE:

The Gauteng Department of Education intends to close Western Area Primary Mine School (271205) for the following reasons:

• The decreased learner enrolment with no prospect of growth, challenges the cost effectiveness of maintaining the school
• The Sibanye Mining company closed, and all buildings had to be vacated
• The area where the school is built was discovered to be very dolomitic, unsafe, and not conducive to human settlement
• The school building has been declared hazardous and uninhabitable, putting the learners’ safety at risk
• The staff and learners of Western Area Primary Mine School have been relocated to Kamogelo Primary School

Therefore, the Gauteng Department of Education invites the community and interested parties of Gauteng West District, to submit representations regarding the proposed Closure of the school within 90 days from the date of publication to:
