How mom and interior designer Zoie maps out her year ahead with Mac

Being a momtrepreneur is no joke – watch as we touch base with Dandy Lion Interiors Founder and mom of two Zoie Segers to see how she juggles it all using the Apple ecosystem.

Being a momtrepreneur is no joke. Between juggling running a business and running a household, there are so many things to balance. But thankfully – you don’t have to do it alone.

Interior design empress and founder of Dandy Lion Interiors Zoie Segers does it all with the help of her trusty Mac workspace and Apple products.

Zoie ventured into starting her own business during the pandemic, a reality that may intimidate many, but instead, ignited an intrigue in Zoie. She boasts a robust portfolio of 20 years of interior design experience and ably heads up the interior design division of her business, but admits the start of the year can be super busy.

“Back-to-school season is a really stressful time. It’s a busy time because we’re usually on holiday when we are supposed to be prepping for school and getting the kids organised,” she shares.

While the back-to-school adjustment can feel overwhelming, Zoie finds solace in the age of technology as a lot of the needed school items and tools can be found online and via the school’s apps.

“Thankfully it’s quite easy with regards to ordering school uniforms, stationery, textbooks – it’s all done online and on the school apps,” she enthuses.

Watch as she shares how she juggles managing her children’s busy school schedules and her growing business while empowered by Mac:

With a daughter, Lily, in grade one and a son, Storm, in grade seven – balancing two very different schedules can be quite hectic – which is why Zoie finds leaning into the Apple tech space to help her children with their respective class lessons has been a saving grace.

“My daughter is in grade one currently, so we use her iPad to help her with her alphabet and with her reading - we download educational apps for her,” explains Zoie. “My son is in grade seven, so he uses his devices to research for certain projects.”

Zoie finds that the Apple ecosystem not only helps ease the growing pains of back-to-school season and her children’s schoolwork but also makes handling her business management tasks and personal schedule a breeze.

“I use my project management tools – I sit with the calendar on my iPhone and organise my day accordingly with regards to meetings between nine and one – and then picking [sic] up the kids,” she elaborates.

But school doesn’t start and end when the bell sounds, as your children’s after-school activities and extracurriculars also need to be taken into account. For Zoie, she slots these all into her calendar alongside her work meetings or deadlines.

“Lily needs to get to gymnastics, Storm needs to get to swimming, galas, etc. - or rugby practice. So, I use the calendar on my iPhone to do so and then it syncs with their iPhones as well – so that they know where they need to be, who is going to be picking them up,” Zoie explains.

For her business, the syncing feature has also played a convenient role – allowing her oversight of what projects are in the works and where they’re at in the day.

And, with the compatibility that Apple has with the Google Suite, Zoie finds that searching or locating files is made painless, “If I need to find files, I can go onto my iPhone, Google Drive assists a lot,” she says.

“If I’ve uploaded a file on my iPad – I can pick it up on my iPhone [and] easily send it off to clients… I don’t have to be in front of my MacBook or iPad, it’s easily accessible off my iPhone.”

All these features combined make Zoie’s life that much more seamless – and with her keen design eye, she is partial to the Apple ecosystem as its design is aesthetically pleasing to behold and work with.

“From a design perspective, and being a designer, Apple is aesthetically beautiful. It’s simplistic, it’s minimalistic – it’s a beautiful device to present on,” Zoie gushes.

“The quality is fantastic, and I would recommend Apple to any person walking this earth.”
