Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to Administer and Maintain critical servers (Microsoft). To design and implement IT Services in the Microsoft environment.

Minimum Requirements

A National Diploma in Information Technology or equivalent qualification plus an applicable industry certification, namely, MSCE Core Infrastructure and Azure Administrator Associate or equivalent Microsoft certification.

At 5 years’ experience in Group policy management and updating of policy.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft defender Advance Threat and Protection (ATP).

Change and Incident management experience.

Administrative knowledge and experience of Office 365.

Candidates without the certificate in MSCE Core Infrastructure and Azure Administrator Associate may be considered for appointment subject to completion of the required certificates within 1-year period of employment. Should you not meet the contractual obligations, the appointment will automatically terminate as it would have reached its natural cause.

Key Performance Areas

Patch Management of Server Infrastructure using Microsoft Log Analytics.

Create, build, and provide Power BI reports using Microsoft Sentinel log reports.

Analyze events and remediate vulnerabilities. Report any events found vulnerable to relevant departments.

Administer Microsoft Defender Server. Ensure all Servers are updated with the cloud agent and communicate with the Azure database. Remediate any vulnerabilities detected by the Defender scan.

Knowledge of Group Policy Management. Understand and apply group policies throughout the infrastructure. Update GPO when required.

Knowledge of Certificate Management. Request and apply authorized certificates to Servers.

Knowledge of Active Directory services. Keep Active directory OU structure up to date and decommission any obsolete objects.

Experience in Application of any DHCP or DNS changes and follow the request for change process for any production changes before applying.

Experience in Domain Controllers, check daily all synchronization between on premises and Azure AD sync to make sure replication is always successful.

User Access, create user accounts and update user access when required.

Analyze events and remediate vulnerabilities

Competencies

Knowledge and experience in patching servers.

Deep Technical understanding of Office 365.

Knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy Management.

Experience in using Microsoft Analytic Logs and Sentinel.

Experience in creating reports using power BI.

Experience in application of DHCP or DNS changes.

Knowledge of change management principles.

Knowledge of the different security features available in Microsoft 365.

Experience in handling security incident in Microsoft 365.

Able to take additional duties or projects as the principal or line manager may determine from time to time, after consultation with the post holder.

Able to Participate actively and flexibly in a range of university-wide activities, such as duty rotas, enrolment and marketing events and staff and student activities.
