Minimum Requirements |
(Minimum Qualifications and Related requirements) * Bachelor’s degree in social sciences /public administration/law; or equivalent ADDED ADVANTAGE: Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professionals (SACSSP), or similar recognised relevant professional body. WORK EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
At least five (5) years relevant experience at a middle management level; and have proven successful institutional transformation within public or private sector.
KNOWLEDGE: The candidate will be expected to demonstrate:
i. Good knowledge and understanding of relevant policies and legislations ii. Good Knowledge and understanding of institutional governance systems and performance management system; iii. Understanding of council operations and delegation of powers, as well as - Health service management; - Cemetery management; - Public safety and; Park and recreation management; |

Key Performance Areas |
Provide strategic direction and monitor the implementation of strategic objectives of the department; Responsible for community services functional areas, namely health service management, cemetery management, public safety ( which includes traffic management, security management and law enforcement), waste management, parks and recreation management and library services; Ensure cost effective management of the directorate’s budget and timely implementation of Council resolutions related to the department; Oversee the development and review of relevant policies and strategies on matters relating to the directorate; Ensure that the activities of the directorate are aligned to the IDP and facilitate performance management of the directorate.
SKILLS: The applicants must exercise diplomacy and be committed to providing progressive democratic and accountable government; strategist and excellent planner, Excellent communication (written and verbal) and motivational skills; Interpersonal skills and Customer focused; Advanced negotiation skills; conceptual and analytical thinker; Diversity management skills. * Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel and Power Point. |

Remuneration |
Remuneration ranges from minimum R965 958, mid-point R1 103 953 and maximum R1 224 083 (per annum) including 4% rural allowance as per Government Gazette No. 50737 dated 30 May 2024 |
